STEP 1 - COUNT THE BEATS

VOWELS, DIPHTHONGS, & HIATUS

NOTES FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Other than the post-questionnaire link at the end of step 1 and any teacher notes in red, everything else in step 1 is exactly as it is in the student module.

You can preview Step 1 and complete the questionnaire in about 1 hour.

Plan to implement/complete Step 1 in your classes over 1 to 3 weeks.

Depending on the age of your students and their level of Spanish, it can be divided up and implemented in many ways. Older and more advanced students can easily work through the program mostly as homework.

After watching the videos yourself, you might want to explain the concepts in your own abbreviated way, and only use the vocabulary practice sets. Instead of sending students to this website, you can embed the videos into your own LMS and the practice can be opened using direct links.

Instead of using the video lectures, you may prefer to present the information using the PowerPoints instead. Watching the videos in English and using the PowerPoints for review in Spanish works very well!

NOTES FOR STUDENTS

You will find this two-part video lecture very helpful, whether you're a total beginner or an experienced student of Spanish at any level.

These concepts are usually considered advanced, but with the unique explanation, graphics, and examples, you'll think they're easy. A real confidence booster!
